Agnihotra ash as medicine
If some disease strikes your crop then, or even if there is no disease, spray Agnihotra ash mixed water as a defensive measure. This water has to be prepared like this :-
In a 100 litre water tank put 5 litres of cow’s urine and 2 Kg. Agnihotra ash to make a solution. Now stir this solution 2 or 3 times in a day with the help of a stick. On the third day the ash will be found to have settled down at the bottom, then without shaking decant the water, that is, pour off all liquid from the tank without disturbing sediment or distill it with a cloth and using a pump spray it on the crop. If this spraying is done 2 or 3 times on the entire crop it will certainly give very good results.
If the quantity of the solution is not much then it is advisable that when you stir it with the stick in the morning and evening, do it clockwise for 5 minutes and anti-clockwise for 5 minutes. This will enhance the power of the solution.
In organic farming and Agnihotra farming there is only one difference – regular performance of Agnihotra on the farm. Agnihotra undertakes the function of providing in plentiful all those useful elements to the crop in the field which are present in the soil alongwith all those which are existing in the atmosphere.
Extracting nutrients from the atmosphere with the help of Agnihotra and while improving the calibre of the fertility of the land we can get best and wholesome crop, superior in quality and also plentiful in quantity. Water holding capacity of the land also improves. Even in less water a good crop can be obtained.
Cow is the mainstay of agriculture. Yagnya’s mainstay too is cow. This is why she is venerable. All the five things derived from cow viz. milk, curds, clarified butter (ghee), urine and dung, have medicinal properties. Cow-dung and cow-urine are a boon for agriculture and the natural property of Agnihotra ash possess the power of invigorating the crop. To adopt Agnihotra farming it is necessary to rear one or two cows because then only cow’s ghee and cow-dung cakes would be available. |
Madhavashram has about 6 acres of cultivable land. Right since 1974, at no time, chemical fertilizers, and insecticides or pesticides have ever been used here. As a positive result of years of regular practice of Agnihotra and Mahamrityunjay Yagnya very good returns from agriculture are obtained here.
In the year 2004 – 2005, Dr. Vivek Potdar has laid out a garden of fruit trees in Madhavashram. In this orchard there are about 400 to 500 Anwala (Myrobalan) fruit trees, about 60 to 70 Guava, 50 to 60 Lemon and 15 to 20 Mango trees. There are some other plants also like Coconut, Custard Apple, Pomegranate, Papaya, Munga Plantain etc. developed strictly following only organic methods and the fruits produced in this orchard are always lusciously rich in taste and unique in size.
Dr. Ramashray Mishra of Kanpur’s Agriculture University started experiments on Agnihotra Farming right from 1980 – 81 and perpetually keeps on doing so even today. Dr. Mishra has worked as Professor of Genetics and as Plant Breeder in Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology in Kanpur. In the interest of Agriculture his scientist colleagues have maintained the series of experiments on Agnihotra Farming. Prominent among these are Dr. B.R.Gupta, Dr. R.L.Shrivastav and Dr. A.N.Pandey.
Madhavashram has organised Agnihotra Farming workshops in many villages for the benefit of farmers. Also in programmes organised by government departments it has actively participated in propagating Agnihotra Farming by putting up stalls and arranging exhibitions. In our this effort the co-operation of Shri G.S. Kaushal, Director Agriculture of Madhya Pradesh government was always of great value. In the Model Agriculture Farm of Madhya Pradesh government at Fanda, near Bairagarh, Agnihotra is performed regularly since last many years. In 2004, at the Jaivik Krishi Kumbha (a big organic agricultural conference) organised by Madhya Pradesh government’s agriculture department at Indore, Madhavashram was honoured by the government for its untiring efforts in this field. It was from this time onwards training programmes were arranged for teaching Agnihotra Farming to the personnel of government’s agriculture department. A similar training programme was arranged for the departments of Berasia tehsil staff at farmer Agnihotri Pratap Singh Meena’s farm in the presence of Shri M.C.Jain, Dy. Director, Agriculture. Organising informative lecturers on Agnihotra Farming at the government’s agriculture based institutions is a regular feature. On the occasion of the first National Organic Agriculture Conference held in 2003 an eleborate article on Agnihotra Farming by Smt. Nalini Madhavji was published in the Souvenir published by the agriculture department of the government of Madhya Pradesh. In 2004 Smt Nalini Madhavji met Dr. Mangala Rai, Director General, ICAR in the Ministery of Agriculture, Government of India and fully acquainted him with Agnihotra farming methods, its utility and necessity in the present times. After this started experiments on government expenses at the Bhopal Soil Science Centre’s Navibag farm. However, due to the concerned officials prejudice and non-cooperation these experiments could not continue for long.
Dr. R.K.Pathak, Director, C.I.S.H., Lucknow invited Smt. Nalini Madhavji to speak on the subject of Agnihotra at the National Seminar organised in August, 2004. Hearing Naliniji he was very much impressed on knowing the importance and benefits of Agnihotra and hence forthwith started its practice at his house. Being an expert in the cultivation of Anwala and Mango plants and also an experienced and staunch supporter of organic farming Dr. Pathak has offered his valuable contribution in carrying out experiments on Agnihotra farming and also its propagation.
In the Ma Bhagvati Kunj at Bahraich, Agnihotra is performed regularly. Agnihotra farming and Agnihotra Chikitsa (treatment) too is undertaken here. In 1979 Shri Shriram Sharma of this place had started Agnihotra in Kanpur and then taking inspiration from Madhavashram remained engaged with propagation of Agnihotra.
There is a village named Ganera in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Farmer Harish Chandra of this village is performing Agnihotra since last 4 years and is also doing Agnihotra farming. Agnihotra was propagated and spread here by one NGO in 2004. Harish Chandra has done good work by inspiring many farmers to get engaged with regular practice of Agnihotra and Agnihotra farming. In the centre of the village they have raised a very attractive grass hut in which Mahamrityunjay Yagnya is performed for 24 hours on every full moon day.
Shri Anil Rana of Janhit Foundation, Meerut and Shri Bhartendu Prakash of Kisan Vikas Samiti, Banda learned the method of Agnihotra Farming from Madhavashram. These NGO’s are propagating its practice amongst its members. Meerut based NGO’s 150 farmer members are regularly practising Agnihotra. Getting inspiration from Madhavashram there are other NGO’s too who are coming forward in this field. In the Government run Organic Farming Training centre in Majkhali, near Ranikhet in Uttaranchal, Agnihotra is performed regularly. At this centre, alongwith organic farming, training is also imparted in Agnihotra farming. Shri Manohar Adhikari is the official imparting training here. Sushri Vinita Saha, Director, Government Organic Agriculture Institute has put the subject of Agnihotra on their website. She got introduced with Agnihotra first time in 2002. At that time Smt. Nalini Madhavji had addressed a meeting on the subject of Agnihotra at the Bio-dynamic organic Agriculture Farm near Nainital.
The number of farmers practising Agnihotra farming is increasing everyday. Farmers from Dewas, Dhar, Indore, Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh and farmers of Lalitpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Banda, Sitapur, Unnao, Kannauj, Kanpur and others from Uttar Pradesh
are now inclined towards Agnihotra Farming. The positive effects of Agnihotra have also been seen in the Tea Estates of Assam.
Madhavashram always gives encouragement to all types of natural farming methods introduced by various institutions engaged in this field. It is our determined view that Agnihotra farming is not something different. Using natural resources farming should be done in such a way so that it fortifies nature and to permeate it with refined wind there is no other powerful medium than Agnihotra. That is to say : Organic Farming with Agnihotra means perfect farming. Agnihotra Farming is a simple method and yet some institutions are unnecessarily projecting it in a manner making it a difficult process and propagating it that way. This is not necessary. The Agnihotra which Shree Saheb (Madhavswami Potdar Saheb) has given to the world is very simple and easy to practice and, therefore, presenting it in a difficult form and thus putting it beyond the reach of a common man is certainly wrong. Agnihotra Farming is not a separate technique. If the entire environment is abounding in Agnihotra atmosphere then there will be no need even to separately perform Agnihotra in the farm. Agnihotra changes for good the life-style of the farmer. He will be free from bad habits and would gain good health. Even if the farmer adopts organic Farming or any of the methods like bio-dynamic, Rishi- krishi, Panchgavya, Natuco-farming etc. alongwith it he should make it a point to perform Agnihotra. Regular practice of Agnihotra will enrich him, his farm, his family and strengthen him physically and mentally. This is the unique feature of Agnihotra.
